For first time voters
Your council makes decisions that affect your daily life – the streets you walk on, the parks you enjoy, and the bins that go out each week.
Enrolling to vote is important as you get a say on who represents you on local council.

How to enrol for first time voters
Depending on your circumstances, there are three different forms to choose from when enrolling to vote.
- Form 1 - For residents in a council area who not on the state electoral roll, a sole owner of a property in a council area but do not live in the area, or renters of a property in a council area.
- Form 2 - For sole business owners or sole occupiers who occupy any type of rateable property in a council area.
- Form 3 - For residents whose property is jointly owned or occupied by businesses, individual persons or a combination of both.
Checking your enrolment status
If you are correctly enrolled for state elections in South Australia, you are automatically included on the council voters roll and will receive a ballot pack from the Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) to vote for your local council.
If not, you will need to enrol to be on your council voters roll.
You can check your current electoral enrolment by contacting the council you enrolled with or Electoral Commission SA (ECSA) on 1300 655 232.
